SHARE Foundation: Empowering Disabilities
The SHARE (Society for Human Advancement through Rehabilitation Engineering) Foundation is dedicated to transforming lives through the power of assistive technology. Their work provides physically challenged and nonspeaking individuals with the tools they need to communicate, interact, and gain greater independence.
SHARE’s mission is to empower people with severe disabilities to lead lives of increased independence and self-fulfillment. By adapting technology to each person’s unique needs and abilities, SHARE helps individuals perform everyday tasks, communicate more effectively, and build stronger connections with their families, caregivers, and communities.
Funds will go directly toward improving the quality of life for people with severe disabilities through assistive technology and essential resources. Your support helps ensure that every individual has the tools they need to express themselves and participate more fully in daily life.
Story
Why Gary & Mary Lou Palumbo Chose to Sponsor Filomena Tripp and The SHARE Foundation, New Bedford MA
Gary and I first met Filomena Tripp and her husband Jim by chance in the office of one of our EAs. We were there for a meeting, and Filomena happened to arrive early for hers. As soon as she learned why we were there, she felt inspired to join as an EA herself. It felt meant to be from the start.
Filomena is an extraordinary woman. Born with only one limb, she has achieved more than many people do in a lifetime—including skydiving. She is the author of Invisible Courage, a passionate advocate for individuals with disabilities, and a dedicated board member of the SHARE Foundation. Having personally benefited from SHARE’s support, she hopes to give back to the organization that made such a meaningful impact on her life.
Filomena and Jim, who live in New Bedford, MA, asked us to submit this Think Local campaign on their behalf. We are honored to support a cause that means so much to them and to help further SHARE’s mission of empowering individuals with severe disabilities through technology and essential resources.
